A wave of concern has gripped residents of the Agbado area of Lagos State following an alleged attack on Mrs. Ilesanmi Olukemi Motunrayo and her son, Mr Ilesanmi Tomisin Adeleke, by unidentified gunmen.

The incident, which reportedly occurred in the community under troubling circumstances, has sparked renewed fears over insecurity and violent attacks in parts of the Lagos-Ogun border communities.

According to reports gathered by our correspondent, the assailants, whose identities remain unknown, allegedly targeted the mother and son in what residents described as a shocking and traumatic encounter. Sources within the community disclosed that the victims narrowly escaped death after the attack, leaving neighbours and sympathisers deeply worried about their safety.

Mrs. Ilesanmi was said to have sustained injuries during the incident, while her son, Tomisin Adeleke, also reportedly escaped the attack amid confusion and panic in the area. The exact motive behind the assault remains unclear as security agencies continue investigations into the matter.

Residents of Agbado have called on the Lagos State Police Command and other relevant security agencies to intensify efforts toward identifying and arresting those responsible for the attack. Community leaders also appealed for increased security patrols across the area to prevent further violence and criminal activities.

A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, lamented the growing insecurity around the Agbado axis, saying many families now live in fear due to repeated cases of armed attacks and gang-related violence in the community.

Past incidents of violent attacks and cult-related activities have previously been reported around the Agbado and Alimosho corridors, prompting repeated calls for stronger security presence in the area.

As of the time of filing this report, police authorities had yet to issue an official statement concerning the attack on Mrs. Motunrayo and her son. However, residents expressed hope that law enforcement agencies would act swiftly to ensure justice and restore calm in the affected community.
