Uzodimma: True Repetition Of Late Dee Sam Mbakwe PhD

Posted on August 28, 2023
BEN AHANONU
The moment when India became the first country to land a spacecraft near the moon’s south pole on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 — I saw in the historic voyage (to uncharted territory that scientists believe could hold vital reserves of frozen water), a technological triumph for the world’s most populous country and what visionary leadership can accomplish with tenacity.
Worthy of note is the fact that, nuclear-armed India, has grown to become the world’s fifth-largest economy.
Meantime, the efforts of Prime Minister Modi  to revitalize India’s global standing — and to finally shake off the legacy of British colonization — is resonating with many Indians and the moon landing is further proof that India has become a rising, modern superpower even recognized by the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Administrator, Bill Nelson, when he congratulated India on X, formerly known as Twitter, saying: “We’re glad to be your partner on this mission.”
Late Dee Sam Onunaka Mbakwe did the same thing for Imo State by providing visionary leadership with tenacity, which served as catalyst for massive infrastructural and economic development that took place in Imo State during that glorious era – when Owerri was described as the cleanest city in Nigeria and Nebraska State University in the United States of America partnered with Imo State under the leadership of Sam Mbakwe to establish the multi-campus Imo State University.
Presently in Imo State, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma is doing the same thing with committed, transparent, sacrificial and visionary leadership, which has resulted in massive infrastructural and economic development, yet it pained the hateful opposition and bad losers so much that they decided to unleash insecurity on the State just to discredit the purposeful and result-oriented Governor Hope Uzodimma, still they failed terribly and will continue to fail.
When late Sam Mbakwe PhD was elected in 1979 as the first civilian governor of old Imo State – including parts of Abia and Ebonyi States, Imo then was reeling from the devastating pains of the avoidable civil war that wrecked the economy of the former Eastern Region – which was one of the fastest growing economies in the world during that time and even better than the economy of Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia.
Prior to his emergence as governor, Mbakwe as a young and enterprising Igbo lawyer was in the forefront of efforts to recover Igbo properties seized by some lazy people and enemies of Nd’Igbo in Port Harcourt – which they wrongly declared “abandoned.” It was with the same zeal that he contested and won the election under the banner of Nigerian People’s Party ( NPP).
As a visionary leader, Mbakwe was persistent, courageous, a strategic planner, prepared to take risks, communicative, organized, focused, optimistic, magnetic, collaborative, innovative,  open-minded, emotionally intelligent and inspirational.
With the foregoing qualities, Mbakwe was able to turn things around for the good of Imo people with extremely limited resources.
Mbakwe brought in Monier Construction Company, MCC, just like Uzodimma did by  bringing Craneburg Construction Company to reconstruct bad roads in Imo State in accordance with world-class quality standards.
Mbakwe was trustworthy and never acquired any property at the expense of Imo State – the only house he had is the building at Avutu, Obowo (recently renovated by Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma) and which he built long before he was elected as Governor.
In the same vein, Governor Uzodimma, who is the most altruistic leader of Imo State extraction in recorded history,  has proven that he is trustworthy and honest. Despite his exposure to affluence early in life, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, has only one building at Omuma. He also built the house long before he became the Governor of Imo State.
Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma just like Mbakwe, has under four years accomplished what the noisy PDP could not attempt to do in 12 years of Udenwa and  Ohakim administrations.
For instance, in the educational sector,  Imo State today, has a Federal University Teaching Hospital, has University of Agriculture at Umuagwo and College of Agriculture at Omuma, College of Education in Ihitte Uboma known as Ben Uwajumogu College of Education, Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education, more schools of nursing and midwifery, 6000 competent and qualified teachers recruited to fill the shortfall in the number of competent and qualified teachers in Imo public schools, teachers are being promoted, salary and pension are paid promptly and regularly. In addition, Imo State University Teaching Hospital (IMSUTH) has been totally modernized with state-of-the-art facilities and after a long time, medical students, who were in limbo of uncertainty have graduated. In fact, the list is endless.
Mbakwe was re-elected for a second term of office and Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma CON, will also be re-elected for a second term of office on November 11, 2023 because he is unstoppable and history indeed beckons.
Unfortunately, some people are so naive that they are buying into the lies of the PDP – notorious for squandermania and corruption as captured by the infamous and corruptive catchphrase: ” Share the money.” They will still share the money. Make no mistake.
They are the same people – serial losers, pathological liars with no iota of humanity.
Interestingly,  the  People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party are now like a house divided against  itself, in want of cohesion, bereft of vision, good leadership and totally irredeemable.
Their gubernatorial candidates are like feathers in a basket, they lack what it takes to lead a great state like Imo State and it will be an unpardonable error to vote for them.
Ihedioha, who is the personification of PDP in Imo State and greatest benefactor is not happy with the masqueraders – hence his men have decamped in droves and the political consequences are grave.
The Labour Party is waging a battle on angry Senator Athan Achonu (Agu Otuaka) and as it stands, the Labour Party in Imo State is in complete disarray and will not survive the implosion even as Peter Obi is not on the ballot paper and not a contestant.
The electorate must know that any vote for PDP, Labour Party, APGA, Action Alliance, AA or any other fringe party is wasted. APC is the real deal and best choice now in Imo State with the kind-hearted and selfless Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma leading.
Their pretentious candidates cannot be trusted, because they have not been tried and  tested. They have no good vision for Imo State, will make no difference and cannot withstand Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma in terms of service delivery, humility, transparent and sacrificial leadership, empathy and dedication to the attainment of a great and prosperous Imo State for all.
According to the former Secretary of the Imo State chapter of the PDP, Ray Emeana: “The vision we had for PDP, has collapsed. I did not want to sink with PDP that was why we left the party. Just imagine, a governorship candidate of a party has nothing to show that he is contesting an election.
“The difficulty is not having enough capacity to win the election, rather it is that most people are not contesting to win. Some are contesting to be relevant. I found out it is the case with the PDP.”
If there is no peace and security in Imo State how will they – I mean the delusional candidates of the opposition parties campaign for the November 11, 2023 gubernatorial election?
Regarding the latest storm in a teapot as instigated by the rickety Trumpeta Newspaper with the false story that some Special Advisers are planning to revolt against the government over unpaid salary and allowances, I want to state categorically that it is unnecessary meddlesomeness with the aim of creating confusion and as the media outlet of imploding PDP, it is obvious that the false story was published to score cheap political points but the plan of the publishers of Trumpeta misfired again and exposed their eagerness to sacrifice journalistic ethics for partisan politics.
Let me state that the relationship between the Special Advisers and Gov. Uzodimma is fraternal and not one based on pecuniary gain. It is a relationship founded on the basis of love and common goal of restoring the lost glory of Imo as a prosperous and peaceful State, therefore, no amount of falsehood, propaganda, mischief or diatribe can change anything and Governor Uzodimma will be re-elected for a second term of office on November 11, 2023.
Trumpeta will always fail and having become notorious for falsehood I advise that appropriate legal action should be taken against the fraudulent media establishment.
In conclusion, I want to reiterate that in all  respects including character and contents, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma is a true repetition of late Dee Sam Mbakwe PhD and genuinely deserves a second term of office to consolidate and continue with the good work for Imo State.
Let those in support say Aye! The ayes have it.
God bless Imo State!
– Hon. Prince Ben AHANONU is Special Adviser (CSDP) to the Governor of Imo State.
