Victim Of Visa Racketeer Narrates How She Was Duped Through Contact On Instagram

A man specialising in defrauding people with the pretence of procuring travel visas for them is currently on the run after obtaining a huge sum of money from his victims and failed to deliver.

Mr Abass Kolawole has been using his Instagram handle to advertise his service as an agent who specialises in getting visas, especially the Canadian visas for prospective clients.

P.M. EXPRESS understands that people have been fallen for his antics when he only demands for money after he might have procured the visas for the clients.

But upon verification, the visas would turn out to be fake.

It was gathered that most people that usually fell victims of the racketeer were not familiar with the process and the protocols involved in obtaining visas from the embassies.

One of the victims told P.M. EXPRESS how she met Abass Kolawole on the Instagram.

“I was easily manipulated with the “no deposit until the visa is out” offer he dangled at me and I believe this is how he got to other victims like me.

“I called him and signified my interest in getting a Canadian visa which he said I would pay the sum of N2 million after the visa was out. I was happy that, at last, I have seen a genuine agent who was not demanding for any part payment with a promise that the visa will come out in three weeks.

“To my surprise, nothing happened at the expiration of the three weeks. He later assured me that I shouldn’t worry myself that everything was on course.

“It was three months later when I had even forgotten that I was expecting a visa somewhere that he called to inform me that my visa was ready. I was glad of the good news.

“He sent the visa sticker page to me, but not Canadian visa, but that of Serbia. His explanation was that Serbia is a good country and that I could easily link up to Canada from that country.

” I demanded to see my international passport with the visa because I need to verify it at the airport if it was original, but he told me that those who did it won’t release it until they collected their full payment. I later transfered the agreed N2 million naira to him before I collected the passport with the visa.

“I was shocked to learnt when I got to the airport to verify the document that I discovered that the visa was a fake one.

“With anger, I reached out to the agent to complain of my discovery at the airport only for him to deny that it wasn’t a fake visa. But after much pressure, he admitted and promised to refund my money with a week.

“It is now getting to two months now no refund. He has even absconded from his home with his wife. I later learned that he has been in the business of visa racketeering duping many innocent and unsuspecting Nigerians.

“I want to advise Nigerians to watch out who they associate with on the social media because the space is full of criminals,” said Adewusi Ifeoluwa
