Victor Arekam’s Hattrick Sends Buruj Academy To Final Against Rochdale
Buruj Sports Academy has zoomed into the final of the youth category of the 2019 English Super Cup tournament holding inside the magnificent sports complex of University Of Manchester in the United Kingdom, following their 3-2 defeat of Droylesden Pumas Juniors on Saturday afternoon.
Victor Arekam was the hero of the day as his excellent hattrick sent the title holders to the final in what was arguably the toughest encounter of the tournament so far.
Playing under an unfavourable whether condition, the Buruj boys beat all odds to withstand the English team, who came with a game plan to stop the Nigerian representatives in their strides having watched their previous group games.
Droylesden raced into the lead on two ocassions but the Buruj boys responded in equal measure to end the first half 2 goals apiece. Fire for fire and tactics for tactics, there was nothing much to separate the two sides going into the break.
The second stanza was understandably tighter as both sides were very resolute to carry the day to stand the chance of winning this year’s title but it was the Buruj Sports Academy’s boys that emerged victorious after the final whistle, as the inspired Victor pounced on a loose ball after a good work from Azeez Oseni to score the third of the game, which sent the defending champions into dreamed land.
In his remarks, the CEO of the academy, Salaudeen Waheed, thanked the Almighty God for taking the team through to the final this year again just as he lavished praise on his boys for their doggedness and perseverance. He added that having come this far, the next target is to win the title at stake come Sunday and dedicate it to well meaning individuals who have been lending their helping hands to help the young boys live their dreams by showcasing their potentials.
Meanwhile, the final game versus Rochdale will kick off by 11.30am according to the fixture released by the organisers.
