Vigilante Rescues 7 Abducted Victims, Recovers 7 Guns In Battle With Lagos Kidnappers

The Vigilante Group of Nigeria, VGN led by their Commander, Otunba James Udoma early Thursday raided and engaged suspected kidnappers in a fierce battle at the Ojo creek and succeeded in rescuing seven abducted victims who have been in captivity in Lagos.
The incident happened along Isuti area of Igando but the victims were rescued at ‘under bridge’ by Totowo Bus Stop in Badore creek axis where the suspects have been operating.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the team also recovered seven English and one locally made pistols, laptops, assorted drinks and cigarettes in the area.
It was gathered that one of the kidnappers also lost his life inside their boat during the battle that lasted for several hours. P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the operation started around 2am and was on till 6pm early on Thursday. But the VGN was able to suppress the criminals in the area who were said to have escaped.
The collaboration between the Nigeria Police and other security agents seems to be working following the declaration by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police Mr, Imohimi Edgar. The police boss had earlier stated that he was ready to work with the other agencies to achieve result and drastically reduce crime in the state.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the operation was going on at the same period CP Edgar led an operation where shrines were demolished and destroyed at the Ikorodu area of the state.
When our correspondent called, the CP was unavailable for comments.
However, when P.M.EXPRESS contacted the commander of VGN , Udoma, he confirmed the incident. He further explained that the victims were coming from Ogun State to Lagos State and were intercepted along Isuti area and taken into captivity. He said they had to mobilize the officers who confronted and pursued them until they were able to rescue the victims unhurt. He added that the police had always worked with other security agencies to ensure protection of lives and properties.
