We Once Used Firewood, Sawdust To Cook, Says ODM Publisher Bishop Chris

Popular clergy and ODM publisher, Bishop Chris E Kwakpovwe has revealed that after he left a flourishing career as a Pharmacist for full time evangelical ministry, life was so difficult for him and his family as they used firewood and sawdust for years to cook.

Speaking on the sixth day of the ministry’s (Our Daily Manna) annual 14-day prayer and fasting program, Bishop Chris, in a virtual message, encouraged viewers from all over the globe not to give up on God because God can turn a man’s captivity into a great testimony.

The Bishop narrated how difficult life was for him when he left Pharmacy to full-time ministerial work.

According to him, “some of the challenges in that stormy season of my life included the use of firewood for cooking. When there was no more wood, the Baale of my community here in Lagos banned me from cutting the wood in the community. That’s when we started to use sawdust until the Lord turned my captivity.”

The charismatic Bishop also mentioned that at a particular time in his struggling days, he was routinely mocked by people; a particular instance was when someone scorned at his living quarters at that time, comparing his situation to that of his contemporaries who were in better living conditions and good locations.

“At some point, I even harboured the thought of going back to Pharmacy but God warned me that my life would be cut short should I resort to such an act,” he declared.

“Today, God has turned the tables around and blessed me stupendously; one of such blessings is building a beautiful home in an enviable location,” Bishop Chris said.

He ended the online service by admonishing viewers that it pays to obey God as a6⁶ñthere might be a cross to carry, but at the end there will be a crown to wear.
