Weighlifting Association Gifts Equipment To Lagos Athletes

Lagos State Weightlifting Association has donated equipment to athletes to enhance their training for various competitions.
The donation took place at the Mobolaji Sports Centre, Rowe Park, Yaba, Lagos.
Speaking at the donation of the equipment, Director of Technical, Lagos State Sports Commission, Ife Ogunlaja emphasized that the equipment would go a long way in improving the performances of the weightlifters and allow them to concentrate more on their training.
Ogunlaja added that the equipment donated to the association would be an addition to the set of equipment available, as it will better performance of weightlifters to train more effectively and prepare for national and international championships.
The Vice Chairman, Lagos State Weightlifting Association, Aderemi Lasisi, stated that the donation will serve as a way of promoting weightlifting development in the state.
“Weightlifting is not receiving as much attention as other sports like football and basketball. There is a need to assist the government in developing weightlifting as a key international sport.
He acknowledged that proper equipment is crucial for training athletes effectively for local and international competitions.
‘Equipment distribution will start in Lagos and extend to other southwest states in Nigeria, he noted.
‎ He further advised athletes to avoid performance-enhancing drugs and maintain their current efforts.
