We’ll Mobilised Remo People For Valuejet 50km Ultra Race On 7 December, Says Akarigbo

The Akarigbo of Remo land, His Royal Majesty, Oba Babatunde Adewale Ajayi has said that the Valuejet IAU African Championship Remo 2019 will be a talk of the town as all sons and daughters of Remo land will be mobilised to witness the tournament.
P.M. EXPRESS reports that the Valuejet 50km Ultra Race, which holds on Saturday, 7 December, 2019 is the Nigeria’s first ultra-distance race and this is taking place in Africa after 35 years.
“We are very much happy that this historic event is taking place in Remo land. I want to assure that we are going to welcome the world on 7 December because we want to be part of the history,” said Akarigbo of Remo land when he was receiving a delegation of the organisers of the Race in company of about 40 Alayeluwa of Remo land at his palace in Sagamu, Ogun State on Tuesday.
The delegation of the Remo 2019 Valuejet Ultra Race was at the Akarigbo’s palace to receive the blessing of the monarch as the race day draws closer.
The Akarigbo noted that the first edition of the Ultra Race is very unique because it falls during the period he is celebrating his second coronation anniversary.
“We are passionate about the development of our youth and I see sports and more importantly this race as a good platform to develop our youth and also to expose our tourism potentials to the world.
*We are going to give this Race all we have in terms of support and mobilisation of the local people,” the Akarigbo said.
To the CEO of Nilayo Sports Management Limited, the organisers of the event, Hon. Bukola Olapade, the race has already generated excitement among foreigners who are coming to take part in the one day event, adding that athletes are expected from no fewer than 32 countries with at least five international athletes coming from each country.
He disclosed that the 50km race which will terminate at Sagamu International Stadium will be full of fanfare with a lot of side attractions.
“Apart from the 50km race, we are going to have a 5km race specifically reserve for the locals and this has generated enthusiasm among the people of Remo with large numbers of registration,” Olopade said.
Ms. Yinka Ogundimu, Consultant on Media to the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun told the Akarigbo and the Alayeluwas of Remo land of the State Government’s support for the IAU championship. She added that the tournament is a good platform for the foreigners to explore Nigeria and Remo land in particular.
“We are expecting the world to enjoy the hospitality of the good people of Remo land on Saturday. The Governor has promised to be physically present at the event as the Chief Host,” Ogundimu said.
Head of Operations of Valuejet Airlines, Mrs Yewande Cole, who represented the chairman of the company, Mr. Kunle Soname said Valuejet is proud to be the titled sponsor of the IAU Championship. “We saw in the 50km Ultra Race as our own way of bringing the world together and a way of showcasing the rich cultural heritage and tourist attractions of Remo land to the world. We are not here for this first edition, we will be supporting the event on an annual basis,” Cole said.

This was attested to by the World President of the International Association of Ultra Race, Nadeem Khan when he was in Nigeria recently.He was ecstatic about the nature of the route which moved through the centre of the town in Sagamu and Ikenne
Another uniqueness of the race is that it will be the first time prize monies will be won by runners in the 35 years existence of the IAU.
