Posted on December 12, 2021

Smart City Football Club of Lagos are two steps away from being crowned the champions of Winners Golden Bet (WGB) Lagos State Challenge Cup again after they thrashed a Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) side, MFM FC in the quarter-final of the tournament decided on Sunday in Ikorodu.

The NPFL side, MFM could not withstand the firepower of the non-league side, as they fell 1-2 in the match played at Strong Tower Academy football pitch, Ikorodu. With this victory, Smart FC, who are the defending champions have booked their place in the semi-final on their way to the final to retain the title won last year.

P.M. EXPRESS reports that both teams played one goal apiece in the first half before Smart city scored the winning goal toward the end of the game.

Meanwhile, the first quarter-final match earlier decided on Sunday saw Box To Box whitewashing Bannax FC 5-1 to book a place in the semi-final.
