There were key insights I took away from the recent presentation by Soludo regarding his vision for the Agulu community. His plans were particularly audacious on the day when Oye Agulu was revitalized, and transformed into a conducive environment for commercial activities. Soludo articulated his administration’s commitment to prioritizing Agulu as a premier tourism destination in Anambra state through various infrastructure projects, both ongoing and planned.

In addition to the renovations of the long-neglected Nneogidi primary health center, which now has solar pipe-borne water, and the transition from diesel to solar-powered street lights, Soludo has laid out several ambitious plans for Agulu. The revival of the Agulu-Aguinyi Water Scheme is also noteworthy, as it promotes access to safe drinking water for the community.

The ongoing dualization of the 64 km Amawbia – Nise – Agulu – Nanka – Ekwulobia – Uga Highway, which connects to Imo state, alongside the dualization of the Nwa-Agu – Agulu – Neni – Nnobi – Nnewi – Ozubulu – Okija federal highway, will significantly accelerate the community’s development. Much of this work takes place within Agulu itself, setting the stage for transformative growth.

Recently, Soludo made an unannounced visit to Agulu Lake to inspect the progress of fencing around this valuable natural resource. The Agulu lake project, which aims to introduce “floating restaurants,” holds remarkable potential to place Anambra as a key destination for tourism and entertainment within Nigeria. With concerted efforts, there is great potential for Agulu to thrive and indeed become the 5th urban center in Anambra state. Together, we can make this vision a reality!
