Where Did The Massacre Happen?

The villains of this whole crisis, for me, are the influential Pastors, the GOs and social media clout chasers who used their influence and followership to goad the #EndSARS protest on when they should have called for an end to it.

Whatever anyone says, the protest without exit strategy, provided the fertile ground for the attacks on Lagos and economic assets.

Suddenly influential pastors were playing to the gallery and tweeting away with reckless abandon.

Fake news and misinformation won the narrative in the last 48 hours.

I started looking for the meaning of the word MASSACRE, GENOCIDE and BLOODBATH yesterday to be sure the three words that were generously used by the mainstream media and social media mob have not acquired new meaning.

A national newspaper taken over by mob hysteria turned its cover to black yesterday to depict a totally misplaced narrative.

Let it be said loud and clear. There was no massacre anywhere or genocide at LEKKI Toll gate on Tuesday. Nobody died and the Soldiers did not shoot at protesters.

We have all seen how fake news and misinformation can set a country on fire.

I only hope we recover fast from this.
