Why I Pretended To Be Pregnant After Buying Set Of Twins – Woman, 55, Opens Up

A 59-year old woman, Mrs. Chinyere Ohanyere, arrested for child theft, has revealed why he faked that she was pregnant after she bought a set of twins before she was arrested in Imo State.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that Mrs. Ohanyere, popularly known as Madam Chichi, got married and was unable to bear a child. She then decided to get herself a child and went for a set of twins.

Police operatives from Imo State Command arrested Mrs. Ohanyere at Graceland Estate, Owerri, the Imo State capital, following a tip-off and she lied that she gave birth to the babies.

The suspect, a native of Oguta Local Government Area of the state, allegedly pretended to have given birth to the twins on 3rd September, 2021, at Irete in Owerri West LGA of Imo State.
However, when the information leaked to the Police, she was apprehended alongside an alleged accomplice, Adaeze Ohanyere, and one other person while the twins, a boy and girl, were recovered. 

During interrogation, she claimed she gave birth to the twins but when she was subjected to medical examination, it was discovered that she was not delivered of the twins; she bought the kids.

According to Police sources, the children had been taken to an orphanage for proper care while the Police are on the trail of the kids’ seller now at large.

This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Michael Abattam, who confirmed the incident.
He stated that the matter has been charged before the Magistrate Court of Imo State, where the suspects are facing trial for alleged child trafficking.
He stated that the matter was adjourned till 6th and 7th October 2021 at Magistrate Court 3 in Owerri but was further adjourned for continuation of the trial.
