Why I Turned Armed Robber – Ex- Bank Staff Opens Up

An ex-bank staff, Moses Keffi, has confessed why he turned to an armed robber after he was arrested during a robbery incident along Ife-Ibadan Expressway in Ile-Ife, Osun State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the Commissioner of Police in the State, Wale Olokode, paraded Keffi, 38, alongside Odeyemi Oluwafemi, 42 and Isah Lawal, 28, at the Police Command in Oshogbo, Osun State, where he made confessional statement.
The suspect, Keffi, said he was a former staff of one of the new generation banks but was dismissed as a result of Covid-19 effect on the bank and this made him to join a robbery gang which has landed him in a serious trouble.
While parading the suspects, CP Olokode said four suspects were arrested after the Police got hints that some armed robbers were operating on the expressway around 4am on Thursday, 14th of January, 2021.
According to the Police boss, one of the suspects has been released after investigation revealed that he knows nothing about the case.
CP stated, “There is a another wonderful success the Command under my watch recorded in this week which I would like the gentlemen of the press to be abreast of. Like I have promised and vowed in my maiden press briefing that I have come to work and to make sure that crime and criminal activities is brought to its minimal ebb and bring the State of Osun back to the state of peace and tranquility known for”.
“On 14th January, 2021, at about 0400hrs (4am), a gang of armed robbers fully armed with guns and other dangerous weapons, invaded Osu/lle-Ife Expressway, attacked the innocent motorists plying the road and hijacked at gun point two (2) different trucks; one Iveco Truck with Reg. No. DTM 113 AX loaded with toiletries worth millions of Naira and one DAF 75 Truck with Reg. No. JJJ 445 XT loaded with some empty sacks of Cocoa Beans.”
“The victims were also robbed of their valuables such as their mobile devices and the sum of N30, 000:00k cash. The JTF and Police Patrol team within the axis were quickly alerted and immediately swung into action and arrested the above mentioned suspects.”
“The two trucks with the loads intact and the suspects’ operational vehicle (white Bus) with Reg. No. LSR 214 YC were recovered while the two mobile phones of the victims also recovered in their possession.”
The Police boss, who had just spent two weeks in the state, reiterated his commitment towards finding a lasting solution to the insecurity challenges in the state. He said criminals will have no hiding place in the state.
Olokode also stated that 22 among the cultists, who invaded Osogbo on Tuesday and caused mayhem, have been arrested by the Command and were undergoing interrogation, stating that all the suspects will be charged to Court after the conclusion of investigation.
