Why You Should Stay Up For This Friday Night Smackdown

Posted on August 22, 2024

Having three title fights on a Smackdown Night is a rarity, but that’s what WWE fans are set to enjoy at the Capital One Arena in Washington D.C. this Friday. You can join the ringside from your home, as GOtv will broadcast the action live on  WWE Network Channel (GOtv ch 68), at 1 am on Saturday. Here’s a list of the matches for the night:

LA Knight vs. Santos Escobar: LA Knight will defend his United States Championship against Santos Escobar in a singles match. At the 2024 SummerSlam, LA Knight defeated Logan Paul to win the United States Championship. This marks Knight’s first official singles title win since re-signing with WWE in 2021. He has boasted that he wants to keep the title for “thousands and possibly millions of days.” Will Escober oblige him?

WWE Women’s Championship Title Match: Michin gatecrashed Nia Jax’s title celebrations at last week’s Smackdown, hitting her with a Kedo Stick. On this edition, both will slug it out for the WWE Women’s Championship in one of the biggest fights of the night. Fans can expect another twist to this arch-rivalry.

The Street Profits Vs The Bloodline: After winning a title eliminator bout against #DIY  last Friday, The Street Profits will challenge The Bloodline for the WWE Tag-Team Championships. This title fight might not go as planned, with speculations of a plot twist that could cost the reigning champions their title. This is an iterating bout to look out for on this edition.

Six-Woman Tag Team Match: The night will also feature a Six-Woman Tag Team Match that will see Naomi team up with Jade Cargill & Bianca Belair, to battle the trio of Alba Fyre, Isla Dawn & Blair Davenport.
