Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State led by its President, Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene, has moved to another level following the emergence of the wife of late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu’s son, Barr. (Chief) Victoria Ndidi Odumegwu Ojukwu, as the new women’s leader in the State.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that it was the outcome of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo General Assembly meeting held on 20th April, 2023, at the Secretariat in Surulere area of Lagos State.
She was nominated and the house inaugurated her as the women’s leader and Chief (Mrs.) Esther Anah (Yeye Asoju Igbo of Alimosho) as Secretary.

The General Assembly meeting was attended by the Ohanaeze executives led by Chief Aguene, some members of Supreme Council of traditional rulers a.k.a Ezendigbo led by Eze Lawrence Nnamdi Eze as its Chairman, Chairmen and women leaders from various LCDAs, market men and women from across Lagos.
During the meeting, Chief Aguene stated that the General elections have come and gone and the Executive members are set to move Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State to a greater height.

He explained that there was need to strengthen Ohanaeze leadership and that was one of the reasons Chief Victoria Ojukwu was nominated as the women’s leader in order to tap from her wealth of experience to organize the women devoid of any rancor.
Aguene explained that Mrs. Ojukwu has been a great Igbo woman, who has distinguished herself as a lawyer, mother and grandmother. Despite her achievements in life and being from the great patriarch, Late Ikemba Nnewi’s family, she is a very humble woman, who has the interest of Ndigbo at heart.

He stated that he has no doubt in his mind that she will perform and enjoined both the men and women of Ohanaeze to support her as she drives the women to the next level.
In her acceptance speech, Barr. Ojukwu thanked the leadership and members of Ohanaeze to have demonstrated trust and confidence to nominate her as women’s leader.
She promised that she will not disappoint and will position Ohanaeze women to the expectations of Ndigbo in Lagos State. She explained that she will not just be their leader rather she will be their servant leader and offer quality services to the women and indeed Ohanaeze Ndigbo in the State.
Mrs. Ojukwu stated that the era of gossips, rumours and propaganda in Ohanaeze Ndigbo from Women’s wing was over because she will be transparent, focused and there will be no room for such. Rather they will plan, bring forth and execute ideas that will benefit the women and indeed Ohanaeze in Lagos State.

She solicited for the support of Ohanaeze because she will work to change the narrative for the better due to the confidence reposed on her to lead the women in the State. She also urged the members to continue to support Chief Aguene because he is a true Igbo leader, which he has demonstrated over the years and that was why Ndigbo are following and supporting him.
Some of the members of Ohanaeze present at the meeting commended the leadership for identifying Barr. Mrs. Ojukwu for the position of women leader, stating that it was the masterstroke that will change the narratives of Ohanaeze in Lagos State.
