Willie Obiano, A Public Choice Theorist

The Theory was developed by James Buchanan, Gordon Tullock, and Mancur Olson. They coauthored The Calculus of Consent: Logical Foundations of Constitutional Democracy (1962) . The central contribution of the book was to identify a two-level structure of collective decision-making.

The Public Choice Theory studies the actions of politicians, government officials and voters as behavior of mostly self-interested agents who use rational choice (the cost-benefit analysis) and have scarce resources to achieve their goals. The issue of how individual political decision-making results in policy that conflicts with the overall desires of the general public is one of the problems addressed by Public Choice Theory.

Chief Willie Obiano as a sound economist is abreast with this notion as postulated by J. Buchanan, G. Tullock & M. Olson. The knowledge of it to me, are some of the reasons we have had “FOOTPRINTS” that has cut across the 177 Communities in Anambra State today. The APGA government is very committed to the project and I believe that if given a second chance in office, he will do exceedingly more.

Beyond that, he has displayed an uncommon diligence while delivering on promises to ndi Anambra all in 3 years. Anambra State today prides of signature projects in a manner we have never had before. What about the payment of gratuities to the ABS pensioners…? The first in the history of Anambra State for over 28 years…? We must consolidate this gesture by coming out in mass and display a high level of resilience while voting and protecting our votes on Nov. 18th, 2017.
