Winter Olympics 2022: Samuel Ikpefan To Represent Nigeria

Nigeria’s French-born Samuel Ikpefan will be representing Nigeria at the Winter Olympics in Beijing, China starting on Friday, 4 February 2022.

He will be making his debut as the first Nigeria cross-country skier in the Winter Olympics. The games will be streaming on Showmax Pro, courtesy of SuperSport.Born in Annemasse in the French Alps, Ikpefan activated his nationality to enable him to become the first Nigerian Skier to qualify for the Winter Olympics and the first male athlete to make the games.This is the second time Nigeria will be participating since her debut in 2018 at the Pyeongchang Games in South Korea where Seun Adigun, Ngozi Onwumere, Akuoma and Simidele Adeagbo represented the country.

There are 5 other athletes competing for other African countries. Among them will be Mialitiana Clerc, Madagascar’s first female Olympic Skier, Ghana’s Carlos Maeder, the third-ever Ghanaian to qualify for the Winter Olympics.The opening ceremony is scheduled to take place on Friday, the 4th of February, with the closing ceremony on February 20.
