Woman, 48, Docked For Biting Rival During Public Fight

A 48-year old woman, Eneche Lauretta, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly biting her female rival, Helen Ugbesia and inflicting serious injury on her.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Egbeda area of Lagos, where they reside.
The cause of the fight was not disclosed by the Police, who found Lauretta culpable for inflicting such injury on the victim. The Police consequently charged her before the Court for assault.
The Police alleged that the two women women had a disagreement over an undisclosed matter, which led to exchange of words but later it degenerated to a physical fight between them. In the process, Lauretta grabbed Helen’s hand, gave her serious bite and injured her.
She was said to have bled profusely and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was treated while the matter was reported to the Police at Idimu Division.
Thus, Lauretta was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over her alleged conduct. And while there, she reportedly admitted to have bitten her in order to subdue her and got her injured.
The Police found her culpable and consequently charged her before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.
However, she pleaded not guilty when she was arraigned.
The prosecutor, Supol Benedict Aigbokhan, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since she pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. K.A. Ariyo, granted her bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when she will perfect her bail conditions.
