Woman, 55, Docked For Allegedly Stealing 3-Year Old Boy

A 55-year old woman, Funmilayo Olanrewaju, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly stealing a 3-year old boy, Mohammed Nasiru, on the street and was caught in the process. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Yaba area of Lagos.
The suspect was arrested by the Commissioner of Police Special Squad 2 and detained for interrogation over her alleged conduct. While there, she confessed and was found culpable for the alleged offence after interrogation.
She was consequently charged before the Ogba Magistrate Court for conspiracy and stealing, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charges read:
“That you, Funmilayo Olanrewaju ‘F’ and others at large, on the 10th day of January, 2025 at about 1330hrs at Yaba Area in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conspire amongst yourselves to commit felony to wit Child Stealing and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
COUNT II:”That you, Funmilayo Olanrewaju ‘F’ and others at large, on the same Date, Time and Place in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did steal one 3years old Mohammed Nasiru ‘m’ son of Mr. Idris Adamu and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 277 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
However, she pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor,  Inspector Lucky Ihiehie, asked the Court to give a date for hearing since she pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. M.O.Tanimola, granted her bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when she will perfect her bail conditions.
