Woman, 57, Sent To Prison For Stealing 2-Year Old Boy

A 57-year old woman, Bisi Egberongbe, has landed in trouble in Lagos State after she allegedly stole a 2-year old boy, Usenni Abdullahi and she was caught in the process.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Bisi Egberongbe has been arrested and charged for allegedly stealing the boy.
The incident happened at Sadiku Street, Agege area of Lagos.
According to the Police, the suspect targeted the boy and forcefully abducted him with the intent to deprive him of lawful custody of his parents probably in order to sell the boy.
However, she ran out of luck while she was taking the boy away as she was accosted by one of the neighbours, the boy’s parents were contacted and it was discovered that she stole the boy.
The matter was reported at Isokoko Police Division and the suspect was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over her alleged criminal conduct.
After rounds of interrogation, the Police found her culpable and consequently charged her before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
However,  she pleaded not guilty when she was arraigned.
The prosecutor,  Supol Akeem Raji, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since she pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. B.O. Osunsanmi, granted her bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when she will perfect her bail conditions.
