Woman Kidnapped By Gunmen Rescued, Suspect Arrested After Gun Battle

The operatives of So-Safe Corps have rescued a woman kidnapped by gunmen and arrested one suspect during a gun battle with the kidnappers in Oke-Ako Community, Ijebu-Ode Local Government Area, Ogun State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports as was disclosed by the So-Safe Commander, Soji Ganzallo, through a statement by the corps spokesman, Moruf Yusuf.
He stated that on 13th July, 2023, the Ijebu Zonal Command rescued a woman, who was kidnapped at about 2200hrs on her way from market and the kidnappers collected the victim’s phone, gold jewellery, a sum of N100,000 in her possession including her ATM card as they drove her away with her car.
Ganzallo stated that the team moved into action but could not catch up with the gunmen because of logistics issue. But the So-Safe men were later informed about strange footprints on a farmland at Oke-Ako Community in Ijebu-Ode Local Government Area.
“The kidnappers were tracked down after rigorous search for them as they tried to move the victim to a new location and there was a gun duel between the suspects and his men, after which the criminals bowed to the superior response of the corps.”
He stated that during the operation, one of the suspects, a 32-year-old Tunde Salami, was arrested and a locally made pistol was recovered from him as exhibit while Corps detained him at the Zonal Command for interrogation.
During interrogation, the operatives discovered that the suspect, Salami, lives in Ibadan, Oyo State, from where he came to Ogun State for the alleged kidnapping business.
“He was captured alive, a locally made pistol was recovered from him and the kidnap victim was rescued unhurt,” Ganzallo stated.
He stated that the suspect and the victim had been transferred to the Police at the Obalende Division for further investigation and likely prosecution.
