A female Police officer attached to Isheri Oshun Division, Lagos State Command, Inspector Josephine, is licking her wounds for serving an invitation letter to a woman, Mrs. Nneka Rose Chiedu, over criminal allegations against her.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that Mrs. Chiedu humiliated Inspector Josephine, held and slapped her severally while saying it to her face that nothing will happen. Indeed, nothing actually happened as other Police officers only mobilized, arrested and took her to their station over her alleged conduct but she was released eventually.

According to Police sources, Mrs. Nneka Rose Chiedu, who resides at 4D Alhaji Bashiru Street, Ajao Estate, placed a call to one Alhaji Alaba, who was said to have directed the Police to release the woman and she was consequently released to go home.

The alleged assault on Inspector Josephine has drawn the attention of a Civil Society Organizations, which decried the ugly incident and called on the Commissioner of Police to intervene and ensure that Inspector Josephine gets Justice over the alleged assault.

The President of AMPEF, Comrade Prince Saviour Iche, insisted that Inspector Josphine cannot be subjected to such inhuman treatment while performing her lawful duty by a civilian because she is a Police officer and her constituency refused to protect her. He called on the Commissioner of Police to quickly address the matter and prosecute Mrs. Chiedu for her conduct.

Comrade Ichie explained that if such ugly incident was not addressed squarely and Police officers were not protected while performing their lawful duty, it will affect their morale and overall performance in the society.

Inspector Josephine got assaulted after a female Pastor reported to the Police that her husband absconded with their two children and kept them in her house at Ajao Estate.

The Divisional Police Officer, SP Uzoma Martin, directed Inspector Josephine to go and invite Mrs. Chiedu at her pure water factory at Isheri Oshun and she went with the invitation letter to serve her.

To her surprise, Mrs. Chiedu held and slapped her severally. She left in humiliation and seem to have been abandoned to her fate.

When P.M.EXPRESS correspondent visited Isheri Oshun Division over the matter, he was told that the DPO was directed not to detain her and she was granted bail by an undisclosed person.

However, the DPO said that she will be charged before the Court for her conduct. But it was not certain if Mrs. Chiedu will be charged probably because of her influence within the Nigerian Police.
