Woman In Trouble For Aiding Her Husband Escape Arrest

A 36-year old woman, Mrs. Favour Okezie has been arrested and charged before a Lagos court for her alleged involvement in aiding her husband to commit crimes and evade arrest.

The incident happened at Pipeline Street in Baruwa area of Ipaja, Lagos.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that her husband, Francis had been involved in several criminal activities with the knowledge of his wife Favour who usually was the beneficiary of his loots.

It was gathered that when Francis committed any criminal offence, his wife kept the proceeds for the benefit of the whole family. In some cases, Francis was said to have ran into trouble but the wife went to the police to bail him to continue his criminal activities. It had continued for some years before the police monitored their activities and discovered there was a serious criminal conspiracy between Favour and her husband.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that recently Francis was fingered for committing an undisclosed offence, the police attempted to arrest him but the wife aided his escape. And since then, he had not returned to their house. When the police eventually discovered that Favour was behind his escape, she was arrested and taken to the police station.
When she was asked to disclose information about her husband, she refused and told the police that she cannot betray her husband.

She was charged before Ogba Magistrates court for aiding and abetting under the Criminal Code. She pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs. Davis Abegunde granted Favour bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Favour was remanded in prison custody pending when she will perfect her bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 18th of September, 2017.
