The Igbo women under the aegis of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Lagos Chapter, have revolted against their President, Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene, over his alleged tyranny, sex exploitation, aggression and brutish violence against one of their Women  Leaders and widow, Princess Ifeoma Okpala.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the assault took place at the Ohanaeze Secretariat in Surulere area of Lagos, where Chief Aguene was said to have brutally attacked the widow and had her detained at the Area C Police Command.

According to the victim, Chief Aguene gave her his complimentary card and ordered her to come to his office. Having known his motive, she refused to go and since then he became aggressive towards her and reportedly warned her not to come to Ohanaeze Secretariat despite the fact that she is the Woman Leader, Ikorodu Chapter of Ohanaeze.

He allegedly attacked her; hit her stomach and injured her for which she is still receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.

The aggrieved Igbo women, who in their anger last week, stormed the group’s Secretariat located at No. 19 James Robertson Street,  Surulere, Lagos, are also calling for the removal and prosecution of Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene for his alleged criminal acts.
The protesting women, in their numbers, accused their  embattled President of perpetuating such acts of sexual molestation, aggression, assault and unlawful hijacking of money meant for them.

According to a statement credited to their Deputy Women Leader, who is also a Lawyer, Barrister Dr. Agubuzor Nkechi, she said, “What happened on that day was so unfortunate and so regrettable. To me, I felt it was the climax of President Solomon’s ingratitude to all our efforts to see that he succeeds as our leader”.                                                                    “Chief Solomon did not only disrupt our Mothering Sunday’s celebration at the Secretariat on the 14th March, 2021, in attempt to forcefully push Ifeoma Okpala out of the hall, but went on to get  Ifeoma detained at the Area C Police Station for hours.”
Lamenting over the assaulted widow’s plight, the Enugu State born lawyer said, “But I tell you that if Ifeoma’s husband was alive, our President would not and cannot detain and falsify the petition leveled against her and get away with it. The fight against Ifeoma or any other woman in Ohanaeze is a fight against the whole women”.

She showed gratitude to women, who followed up to see that she was released and the Chairman of all Chairmen, Chief John Paul  Oramadike, who came up to rescue her.

“Honestly, I applaud the great Chairmen of LGA/LCDA Ohanaeze for the clout, guts and temerity to speak out in one voice, condemn the anomaly. They returned the pride of womanhood, the pride of their own self esteem, and on a large note, the pride of our Ohanaeze.”

When our correspondent contacted Aguene, he denied all the allegations and declined to make further comments claiming that he was facing serious battle over the matter.
