When Mr. Musibau Alimi married his wife, Bolaji, about18 months ago, he did not know that he got married to a woman, who will turn him to a punching bag in their matrimonial home.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that Mrs. Bolaji subjected her husband, Musibau, to constant beating to the extent that her husband had to leave their matrimonial home in order to save his life.

Consequently, Musibau filed a suit before the Mapo Magistrates Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, seeking for the dissolution of the marriage.

An embittered Musibau told the Court that he was doing so because, Bolaji was beating him constantly and has threatened to cause him harm and he had to flee from their matrimonial home.

“Bolaji starts trouble by nagging for no particular reason and also spends most times in her mother’s company. She returns home at night to beat me. In fact, I packed out of my own house when Bolaji’s threat to my life became too much to bear” Musibau said.

Mrs. Bolaji, who did not deny her husband’s allegations, told the Court that her husband, Musibau, was an irresponsible man because he had never cared about her welfare.

“Musibau has never been a caring partner because he comes home anytime he feels and sometimes abandons home for three days.”

“My mother paid for all my antenatal requirements when I was pregnant. I only pray the Court to compel my husband to be responsible for our child’s welfare” Bolaji said.

Delivering judgment, the President of the Court, Chief Ademola Odunade, said the marriage will have to be dissolved in order for the couple not to resort to ”self-help”.

Consequently, Odunade dissolved the union and granted custody of the only child to Bolaji. He ordered Musibau to pay N5,000 as the child’s monthly upkeep.

Musibau, who accepted the judgement, said he has been freed from the bondage and was ready to move on with his life.
