You’re A Big Fool – Criminal Suspect Tells Victim After Swindling Him N.6M

There was a mild drama at the Ejigbo Magistrates Court after a criminal suspect, Victor Effiong, described his victim, Edemuzor Nelson, as a big fool after he obtained him over N600,0O0.00 under the false pretence of doubling the money to make him a millionaire and he believed.  

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the victim, Nelson, was accosted by Effiong and others at large at Adegbite Street, Okota area of Lagos and convinced him that they were capable of making him a millionaire if he can bring some money as they will double it.

The suspects showed him samples of the money and he believed them. He then brought the money, handed it over to them and they shared the money among themselves.

He was asked to come and carry the doubled money the following day. But when he went to the place, he did not see anybody there. It was then he realized he had been duped.

He reported the matter to the Police, who moved into action and arrested Effiong.
After interrogation, he was charged before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for conspiracy and fraud.

When he was arraigned, he pleaded not guilty before Court.

The prosecutor, Inspector Benedict Aigbokhan, asked the  Court to give a date for hearing to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E.O. Ogunkanmi, granted him bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

He was remanded in Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions while the matter was adjourned till 30th July, 2021 for mention. 

While he was being taken into custody, Effiong sighted the complainant, Nelson and mocked him that he was a big fool by believing they will make him a millionaire by doubling his money, whereas none of the members of his gang is a millionaire.
