You’re Our Great Ambassadors, Fatodu Tells Heroic Lagos Athletes At All Africas Games
Lekan Fatodu, Director General, Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC), has praised the outstanding performance of athletes from Lagos State who represented the country at the recently held All Africa Games in Accra, Ghana.
He said the performance of these young athletes, discovered and groomed in Lagos State was impressive in Accra, adding that this demonstrated the level of courage, determination and ability to work that defines every Nigerian.
“Some of your wishes may not come true, but you continue to live and strive in the hope that everything will go well.
“You really took that spirit to another dimension with the sportsmanship and dedication you showed in that effort,” he said.
Fatodu, who received the athletes at the Conference Room of Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere Lagos, continued to praise the excellent performance of the athletes, stating that their shortcomings were still strong, adding that they were good ambassadors by carrying the flag of Lagos and Nigeria as a whole. They have proved themselves as wonderful ambassadors of Lagos and their contributions are indispensable.
Participating athletes include current African and Commonwealth Weightlifting 55kg Champion Adijat Adenike Olarinoye; Boxer Omole Dolapo, who secured a ticket to the 2024 Olympic Games to be held in Paris, France, is among those have carved a niche for themselves across different disciplines at the African Games.
Falodu added that the bold display of the athletes in multi-sport events at the continental level demonstrates Lagos State’s commitment to development programs and strong investments in sports infrastructure.
