Youth Games: Standing Ovation For Lagos’ Multiple Gold Medal Winner, Akinwuwon Oladeji During Closing Ceremony

Team Lagos have a lot to celebrate despite coming second position at the just concluded National Youth Games, which was hosted by the University of Ilorin, Kwara State, north-central Nigeria.
The team, which paraded mostly young athletes, had one of the state’s athletes, Akinwuwon Oladeji, getting special public recognition from the Honourable Minister of Sports, Mr Sunday Dare for winning three gold medals in the 100m, 200m and 400m events at the tournament.
Minister Sunday Dare described the deaf athlete as a wonderful creation of God for proving to the world that there is ability in disability.
P.M. EXPRESS understands that the minister promised the sum of N200, 000 for the athlete as a way of appreciating him for putting up such a rare feat at the youth games.

While giving his remark during the closing ceremony of the 6th National Youth Games which was held at the Maracana Stadium inside the University of Ilorin, Dare enjoined guests and participating athletes, officials and coaches to give Akinwuwon a standing ovation with applause.
The minister said that the deaf athlete is one of the outstanding revelations of the just concluded National Youth Games which was attended by 35 states, 3200 athletes, 345 coaches in 34 sports.
