Zonal Eliminations: Eko Female Football Team Qualify For NYG 2023

Team Lagos’ female football team on Thursday picked the ticket to play at the National Youth Games (NYG) 2023 after the beat Team Ogun girls 2-0 in the match decided at the ongoing South-West Zonal Eliminations Ball Games in Ilaji Resort and Sports Centre, Akanran, Ibadan, Oyo State.

P.M. EXPRESS reports that Odebode Omolara’s first half goal put Lagos forward as Eko female football team defeated Ogun State in the match dominated by the girls from Lagos. After a spot-kick missed by the Lagos skipper, Awawu Bashir, the team remain resolute and steadfastness as they keep fighting for the sole ticket in football event.

Before the end of first half, Odebode Omolara broke the deadlock by rounding off two defenders and put the ball at the back of the net.The introduction of Success Odey changed the match for good as she slotted in the ball to the left-hand side of the goalpost. Captain of the team, Awawu Bashir, said she gives thanks to God for the success of the match.

 

 

“We’re looking forward to the Games proper in Delta State; we will continue with our training routine and adhere to the instructions of our coaching crew”.
