Ndigbo Media Forum, NMF, has called for the zoning of the position of Ohanaeze Ndigbo President General to Rivers State, South South of Nigeria, in order to rekindle the spirit of brotherhood and redefine alliances among Ndigbo.
P.M.EXPRESS reports as was contained in a press release signed by the National Coordinator of the group, Rev. Paul Eze in Lagos State.
In the statement the group stated:
“Ndigbo Media Forum has unequivocally stated that zoning the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo to Rivers State will be an indication of a Post-Biafran war Igbo renaissance. It will prove that Ndigbo have woken up and are prepared to redefine alliances and put a quintessential mark on Igboness”.
The group noted that the separation and  disintegration of Igbo Speaking origins was as a result of the divide and rule policy of the Colonial masters and the post war state creation exercises by series of military administrations, which ensured that the old homogeneity of Ndigbo as was presented by the defunct Eastern region was affected. in other words, the idea and policy was to balkanize the region and make cooperation difficult among igbo people, who shared a natural and historic ancestry.
The NMF stated that zoning the position of Ohanaeze President General to Rivers State will be a statement of Oneness and will cement the re-awakening of Ndigbo in a 21st century Nigeria and it will be historic.
The group further advised those who turned Ohanaeze into a political party to desist immediately. Instead they should join in articulating a veritable road map for igbos at home and diaspora.
The group finally asked for justice, equity and a fair playing ground for everybody. The NMF insisted that since Delta State has taken their slot under the late Raph Uwechue, it will be a grievous sin and will attract a lot of consequences if the Igbo people in Rivers State are not allowed to have their slot.
