A 23-year old lady, Opeyemi Adamson, has been arrested in Lagos after she used a knife to slit her rival’s throat.

The incident happened at Meiran area of Lagos where they reside.

The victim, one Taiwo Olowookere, 28, suffered her fate after she had a quarrel with Adamson. It was gathered that during the squabble which took place in their compound, Adamson used a knife to slice the victim’s throat, pierced it deep inside and left the knife there.
The victim bled profusely and fell down before other neighbours who were present rushed her to an undisclosed hospital where she died. The corpse was deposited at mortuary for autopsy report.
The matter was reported to the Meiran Police Division and she was subsequently arrested and transfered to SCIID Panti, Yaba, Lagos for further investigation.
During the investigation, the police found her culpable and charged her before the Ebute Metta Magistrates Court for murder.
The court did not take her plea and denied her bail. The prosecutor, Inspector Adams, asked court to remand the defendant in prison custody pending the outcome of DPP advice.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mr. A.O. Komolafe, ordered her to be remanded in prison custody and directed the prosecutor to send her file to DPP for advice.

It was gathered that if the defendant is found culpable by the DPP, that she will be tried and may be jailed for life for the offence.
Meanwhile the corpse of the victim was still at the mortuary as the police await the outcome of the investigation to determine if she would be facing murder charge over the death of Taiwo.
