A 47-year old, Chime Onyejekwu has opted to go to prison over his wife’s constant threats to jail him as he eventually forced the wife to send him to prison in order to satisfy her.

The wife, Pretty had ordered the arrest of Chime by the police on allegation that he assaulted and threatened to pour acid on her.

The incident happened at Banire Street, Sonny bus stop, Ajamgbadi, Lagos where they resided.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the couple got married some years back and had children before they started having issues over undisclosed domestic matters, which often resulted in both engaging in fights.

It was one of such fights that got them to the police station following the allegation by the wife that her life was in danger because her husband had assaulted and threatened to pour acid on her.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that Chime was arrested and detained at the police station over the allegation. He was shocked by his arrest and decided that since his wife had made true her threat, that she must complete her action by sending him to prison as she had wished.

He reportedly declined to reconcile with the wife at the police station and insisted that the matter should be charged to court.
The suspect was then taken before Ikeja Magistrates court over the wife’s allegation.

However, at the court the wife made effort to withdraw the charge against him but he refused insisting that he wanted to go to prison to satisfy her wish.

The prosecutor had no choice than to proceed and arraigned Chime before the court for the alleged offence.

He pleaded not guilty.

The presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Okokhia granted Chime bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Chime was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that while Chime was being taken to prison, the wife realised that she had sent the father of her children to prison. She ran up and down to effect his release him from custody but it was already late as Chime was taken to prison.
