A 26-year old Nigerian man who poses as a foreigner, identified as Oluwadare Olusola, who allegedly had defrauded many hotel owners finally met his waterloo in Lagos.
Olusola was arrested at De Silver Grandeur Hotel located at Agbor Close in Ajao Estate, Lagos.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that Pablo went to the hotel and told the management that he was foreigner from Colombia and that he came to Nigeria to do contract jobs for one company in the area. He said he needed an accommodation to lodge with his partner and would pay later. The management accepted and he lodged in the hotel. He was offered other services which he promised to pay the bills later through the undisclosed company.
However, after incurring thousands of Naira debt, he planned to escape from the hotel. But before he could escape, the management got wind of his plan and handed him over to the Ajao Police Division for fraud.
During interrogation, the suspect who had all along claimed to be a foreigner was later found out to be the son of Police pastor from Ogun State; his father was contacted and he confirmed that the suspect was his son and not a foreigner.
He was charged before the Isolo Magistrates Court for fraud and he pleaded guilty.
The prosecutor, Mr. Oje Uagbale, presented the facts of the matter and asked the court that since he initially pleaded not guilty and then changed his plea to guilty, that the court should sentence him accordingly to serve as deterrent to others who might try such in the future.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.A Teluwo, found him guilty as charged and sentenced him to two years imprisonment without an option of fine.
