A 35-year old housewife, Mrs. Monsurat Olusanya, has been arrested by men of Ogun State Police Command for inflicting various degrees of injury on the body of a 4 year old girl, Fathia Ogundimu, who happened to be her niece.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that her arrest followed a complaint from a CDA member of Tiluwalase Community in Owode Ijako (name withheld), who came to Sango Police Division with the little girl on 18th October, 2019, and reported that she was on the verge of being sent to early grave if appropriate steps were not taken to save the little girl from the wicked aunt.
This was confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who further stated that the suspect accused the little girl of mistakenly pouring away a pot of soup. She then put a knife on fire and used the hot knife to inflict injuries all over her body. Not satisfied, she gave the little girl bites on her stomach and lips.

On the strength of the report, the DPO Sango Police Division, CSP Godwin Idehai, detailed his detectives to the scene where the wicked aunt was promptly arrested.
On interrogation, she admitted being responsible for the injuries on the body of the victim but pleaded with the Police to be lenient with her claiming that the devil pushed her to do it. The victim has been taken to the hospital for medical treatment.

The housewife, who is a mother of three, is currently being detained at Sango Division while the biological parents of the victim have been contacted for them to come and take custody of their daughter.
Meanwhile, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Bashir Makama, has directed that the suspect be charged to Court as soon as investigation is concluded. He also appealed to parents to know the type of people they give their children to if at all there is need to do so as many of the so called guardians are in the habit of maltreating children who are not their own.
