The police in Lagos have arrested a school teacher, one Joseph Chidi, for interrogation over alleged defilement of a 6-year old girl inside the classroom.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Yinteb Nursery and Primary School, Shogunle area of Lagos, where Chidi was said to have been employed as a worker.

According to the police, the 32-year old teacher on 11th February, 2019, lured the victim into one of the classrooms, removed her pant and inserted his fingers into her private part. P.M.EXPRESS gathered that when he could not hold the orgy, he brought out his joystick and inserted into her private but was unable to penetrate her because of the size.
However, the matter got exposed after the victim informed her parents about what happened. The matter was reported to the police; Chidi was arrested for investigation over the dastardly act.
After investigation, the police found him culpable and charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for defilement.
When he was arraigned, the prosecutor, Inspector Christopher John, asked the Court for order to enable him send the file to the DPP for advice.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mr. Peter Nwaka, granted the request and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP for advice.
Consequently, the court remanded Chidi in prison custody pending the outcome of DPP’s advice. He was not granted bail and his plea was taken because of the seriousness of the alleged offence.
He may have to spend up to 10 years in prison if he is found culpable by the DPP, tried and convicted by the High Court.
The matter was adjourned till 21st March, 2019, for the report of the DPP’s advice to be ready.
