Two Armed Robbers Killed During Exchange of Gun Fire

It was a sad end for two robbers who were shot dead by the night security led by the Deputy State Commander of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, VGN, Mr Ayede Santos in a gun battle in Lagos.

The incident happened early today at about 3am around the Cele area of Isasi in Ojo Local Government. The identity of the robbers was not yet known but the residents said they were not living in the area.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the robbers stormed the area to rob residents in the night and shot sporadically to intimidate the residents. Unknown to the men of the under world that the residents had vigilante in the area. It was gathered that there was an exchange of gun fire between the robbers and the vigilante who were on duty.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that two of the robbers were shot dead while others escaped with their arms. Their lifeless bodies were recovered and handed over to the police to deposit at the mortuary for autopsy report.

Our correspondent contacted the Area Commander, ACP Hope Okafor for comments, but she was said to have gone to Badagry for the visit of the Lagos Commissioner of Police to her Command for stakeholders meeting in the area. However, police sources confirmed the incident and said that the police have already commenced investigation to arrest the other suspects that escaped.

When P.M.EXPRESS visited the area, the residents confirmed the incident and commended the security operatives in the area for their bravery when the incident happened. The Deputy Commander of the State VGN, Santos confirmed the incident and said they were motivated by the cooperation they have received from the police since the new CP came on board.

Santos however said that they were not getting adequate support from the government as their movements were usually hampered because they do not have vehicles for operation.

P.M.EXPRESS had reported that it was the same security group that rescued seven victims and recovered arms from suspected kidnappers operating from the creek.
