The aspiration of the good people of Ogun West Senatorial District to have a full fledged Federal University has received another major boost as the 10th Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has passed the Bill for the upgrading of the Federal Polytechnic of Ilaro to University of Technology.

The Bill, “ Federal University of Technology, Ilaro, Ogun State SB 345, 2024” was sponsored by the Senator representing Ogun West, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi, as his direct response to the yearning for a new dawn in education development in Ogun West.

The bill, as sponsored by the Senator, was previously passed by the 9th Senate but could no go for concurrence by House of Representatives and Presidential assent before the end of the session.

The passing of the same bill by the Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio led 10th Senate is the second time it was passed by the Nigeria Senate.

The bill will now go for concurrence at the House of Representatives after which it will move to the table of the President for possible assent to make the dream of all patriotic Ogun Westerners a reality.

Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi has been unflinching in his support for the growth of education in Ogun West. Projects and empowerments that he has facilitated towards this end include scholarship and bursary schemes, upgrading of critical infrastructures in schools across Ogun West and high level information technology trainings for the youths of his constituency to mention few.

The bill for the establishment of University of Technology in Ilaro, Ogun State that has now been passed for the second time at the Senate looks good to complete all the processes which it fall short of after it was passed by the 9th Senate.
