13 CPs Promoted To AIGs & 17 DCPs To CPs

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of 13 Commissioners of Police (CPs) to the rank of Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) and 17 Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) to the rank of Commissioner of Police. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the promotion followed their successful performance in a recently concluded written examination and oral interview.
The promotion exercise, conducted at the Commission’s corporate headquarters in Abuja, formed part of the PSC’s efforts to strengthen professionalism and meritocracy within the Nigeria Police Force.
According to a statement issued by the Commission’s Head of Protocol and Public Affairs, Torty Njoku Kalu, the list of successful officers has been forwarded to the Inspector-General of Police for immediate implementation.
The newly promoted AIGs include Emmanuel Ado Christopher (former CP, Yobe State), Joseph Eribo (former CP, Ekiti State), Dantawaye Miller (former CP, FCT), Uche Ifeanyi Henry (Director, NPF National Cyber Crime Centre), Olarenwaju Peter Ogunlowo (former CP, Ogun State), Muhammad Dahiru (former CP, Jigawa State), Dankombo Morris (former CP, Adamawa State), Bello Shehu (former CP, Katsina State), Ibrahim B. Maikaba (former CP, Zamfara State), Ahmed Musa (former CP, Sokoto State), Olohundare Moshood Jimoh (former CP, Lagos State), Simeon Udofia Akpanudom (former CP, Anti-Fraud FCID Annex Lagos), and Haruna Olufemi (former CP, Oyo State).
In the same exercise, the Commission elevated 17 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) to the rank of Commissioners of Police (CPs). Among them are Abdulrahim Audu Shaibu, Abbas Sule, Ojugbele E. Adebola, Preye Raymond Egbetokun, Kayode Uthman Magaji, Adebisi Bola Lateef, Markus Ishaku Basiran, Silas Bamidele Aremu, Sylvester Onyie Uzoefuna, Magaji Ismaila, Theodore Chukwuemeka Obasi, Sarah Idowu Ehindero, Hayatu Shaffa Hassan, Mohammed Babakura, Danjuma I. Yahaya, and Rebecca Uchenna Okereke.
Additionally, the Commission approved the promotion of 19 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) to the rank of Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs), while 35 Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) were elevated to the rank of Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs).
The Chairman of the PSC, Hashimu Salihu Argungu, a retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police, said the promotions were based strictly on merit and performance.
Argungu described the elevation as recognition of dedication, professionalism and excellence in service, urging the officers to justify their new ranks through renewed commitment to effective policing and national security.
“The promotion is not an end but an opportunity to contribute more to the noble task of safeguarding lives and property,” he said, adding that the Commission remains committed to transparency and global best practices in its promotion processes.
He also commended PSC board members, including Paul Adamu Galumje, retired Justice of the Supreme Court, and Taiwo Lakanu, retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police, as well as the Secretary to the Commission, Onyemuche Nnamani, for their contributions to the successful conduct of the promotion exercise.
The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to building a professional, efficient and accountable police force through transparent and rigorous promotion processes.
