18 LG chairmen, 196 Councillors Hold Industrialisation Rally In Support of Gov. Ayade

The 18 local government council chairmen and 196 councillors as well as thousands of others in Cross River on Thursday held a rally in Calabar in support of the industrialisation drive of the state Governor, Prof Ben Ayade.

Addressing the rally, Governor Ayade, said he was industrialising the state to safeguard the future of the youths who would be gainfully employed.

He said, “there are over 20 industries in Cross River,” located across the state, adding that he established the fabrication academy so that if the certificates from university cannot provide the owners jobs, they could acquire skills from the academy to be gainfully self-employed employed.

Ayade said he has appointed 13,000 people at the local government level and engaged 6,000 appointees at the state level just to put food on the table of the people of the state as a way to prevent crime and lower tension in the state.

“If I have my way, all Cross Riverians will get appointment. Let us focus on people. Government is about people. I thank those who organised the rally.”

He said the state has got investors for the Bakassi Deep Seaport and the Super Highway, adding that the acquisition of two aircraft for CallyAir fleet would ease air transport for citizens of the state and also boost tourism, adding that his administration would finish strong.

The Chairman of Akpabuyo Local Government Area, and Chairman of  Cross Local Government Chairmen’s Forum, Emmanuel Offiong Bassey, said the rally was in support of Governor Ayade’s industrialisation drive.

Also speaking, the Chairman of Boki LG, John Ewa, that of Odukpani, Hon (Mrs) Justina Edem, and that of Biase, Hon (Mrs) Ada Egwu, called for support for the governor from the  the people of the state so that he could do more in turning the state into an industrialised zone.
