2 Citygate Staff Docked For Swindling Company Of N359m

Two staff of finance company, Citygate Global Investment Limited in Lagos State, have been arrested and charged for allegedly swindling the company to the tune of N359m.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the members of staff Adeyemi Adedotun, 36 and  Suliaman Omodolapa, 28, were arrested by Police operatives from MAN Center Division after the alleged fraud was discovered to have been perpetrated by the two members of staff and others now at large.
The incident happened at the company’s office located at Ogunlowo Street off Awolowo Way, Ikeja area of Lagos, where they were employed as staff.
According to the Police, the suspects had between August, 2023 and July, 2024, obtained credit of the said amount in question and made false statements by using WPS office application to prepare false statement of account to defraud the company.
However, the whole scam got exposed after the company conducted an audit and the money was discovered to be missing.
The alleged fraud was reported to the Police. The operatives arrested the suspects and detained them at the station for interrogation over the missing money.
After rounds of interrogation, the Police found them culpable and consequently charged them before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.
However, they pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since they pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. B.O. Osunsanmi, granted them bail in the sum of N5m with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned till 15th August, 2024, for mention while the defendants were remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.
