2 Police Officers Battered While Attempting To Rescue Woman

Two police officers attached to Isheri Oshun Division of the Lagos State Command may now be regretting after they went to rescue a woman, one Babatunde Gloria, who was being assaulted by some people in her shop in the area.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that they were brutally attacked and assaulted to the extent that they reportedly sustained serious injuries and were being treated.

The officers, Sergeant Prince Inyang and Obadele Kayode got information that some men were attacking Gloria at her shop at No. 5 Samadina Street in Isheri Oshun, Lagos. It was gathered that the DPO directed the officers to go to the place, rescue Gloria and invite the suspects to the police station.

When the police officers got there and attempted to rescue Gloria who the suspects had already beaten mercilessly, the group joined the officers in their assault and battered them. The officers then got words across to the police station about what happened and more police officers were mobilized to the place. But before then, some of the suspects had escaped.

However, three of the suspects behind the attacked were arrested and taken to the police station. The suspects were Moruf Ejalonibu, Segun Ademuka and Waliu Adegun .
They were later charged before Ejigbo Magistrates court for conduct likely to cause breach of public peace and assault.

They pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector G. Simon did not oppose the bail application by their counsel.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.K.J. Layeni granted them bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
They were remanded in prison custody pending when they will perfect their bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 2 July, 2018.
