Police operatives from Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, FSARS, led by CSP Peter Gana, have arrested two suspects in possession of N1.1m fake Naira notes in Lagos.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspects, namely Sunday Durosimi, 29 and Majekudunmi Lateef, 48, were arrested at an undisclosed location by the Police on a tip off.
They were detained at the Police headquarters, Ikeja, Lagos, for investigation on how and where they got the fake notes.
During interrogation, the suspects were said to have declined to disclose the source of the money and the syndicate behind the printing of the fake notes.
It was also gathered that there were other suspects now at large, who were members of the syndicate that produced the notes.
They were later charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for conspiracy and unlawful possession of fake Nigerian currency.
They pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Peter Nwaogwugwu, asked the Court to fix a date for hearing since they pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. Y.O. Aje-Afunwa, granted them bail in the sum of N250,000 with two sureties in like sum.
They were remanded in prison custody pending when they will perfect their bail conditions while the matter was adjourned till 18th February, 2020.
