2 Suspects Who Used Toy Guns To Be Charged As Armed Robbers

Two suspected criminals, Ibrahim Wasid,23 and Saka Waheed,20, who used toy guns to rob residents of their valuables are now in big trouble following the recent decision by the court in Lagos.

The court ordered for their remand in prison custody and directed the prosecutor to send their files to the Directorate of Public Prosecution, DPP for advice on armed robbery. The suspects were arraigned before the Isolo Magistrates court after the police arrested them with the toy guns.

The incident happened at Ejire Street in Itire area of Lagos where they were alleged to have used the toys to rob some residents of their phones and valuables.

They were alleged to have pointed the toy guns at the victims, Chizoba Apugo and Samuel Atere, disposed of their phones and escaped. It was gathered the some of the residents thereafter suspected that the guns they used to rob the victims were not real guns, they decided to confront them and it paid off.

They were apprehended and handed to the police at Itire Division and the toys were presented as exhibits. The police later charged them to court where the charges were read to them.

The prosecutor, Mr. Oje Augbale urged the court to give order for the file to be sent to DPP for advice.
Consequently, the Presiding Magistrate Mrs. O.A. Teluwo ordered the suspects to be remanded in prison and directed the prosecutor to send their files to DPP for advice.

They were remanded in prison custody pending the outcome of the DPP advice.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that if the DPP found them culpable for armed robbery, they will be tried and if found guilty, they may spend several years in prison custody.
