2018 NSF: Lagos Fulfils Instant Rewards Promise To Athletes

In fulfilment of the promise of giving instant rewards to Team Lagos athletes who will be winning medals of any colours at the ongoing 19th National Sports Festival, Lagos State Sports Commission has given cash awards to two of the athletes that have so far won medals.      

Cyclist Akaegbu Juliet who won the first medal (bronze)  for Team Lagos in the 200m sprint event was instantly rewarded with cash immediately she finished the race on Friday.

On Saturday, Kazeem Abass reveived his own cash reward after he won bronze medal in the 54kg of the para powerlifting.

In waiting to receive their cash rewards were the medal winners on Day 3 (Saturday) of the festival. The Olopedes, Smart and Mary who won bronze medals in swimming events. Adewunmi Akintunde in judo and the athletes who also won medals in taekwondo events and para powerlifitmg.

The reward, according to the chairman of Lagos State Sports Commission, Dr Kweku Adedayo Tandoh,  is put in place to motivate the athletes to do more and encourage others to put more effort in making Lagos proud in the championship which enter Day3 on Saturday.

The Sports Festival ends on 16 December.
