2023: Anambra Lawmaker To Launch N5 Million Community Choose Your Project Scheme

Chukwuma Pius Okoye, the lawmaker representing Awka-South 2 state constituency in the 7th legislature of Anambra state, has stated that as part of his commitment to human capital development and community advancement, he would amongst other laudable ideas, introduce N5 Million Community-Choose-Your-Project scheme, if reelected in 2023. 
The young vibrant legislator, who told our correspondent in his Amawbia residence in Awka-South local government area of the state at the weekend, said the quantum of community-driven projects he has executed in his constituency has endeared him to the people, such that he already has their mandate for a second term in the forthcoming 8th assembly.
Okoye explained that the proposed N5 Million Community-Choose-Your-Project Scheme was not a mere political nor campaign statement but a mission to be accomplished in his second term in office, having executed projects that touched the lives of his people in Obizi constituency.
He recalled the meeting he convened with all the Presidents-General in his constituency in 2021, where he made it categorically clear that he wanted them to be fully involved in community projects. Okoye maintained that henceforth, it will no longer be himself going to the communities to source the felt needs of the people but this time, it will be the community leaders writing officially to him stating their consensus project to enable them access the N5 Million grant for such project.
He said the objective of the N5 Million Community-Choose-Your-Project Scheme was for the people to feel the impact of democratic representation in the legislature and also be actively involved in the process of governance. Okoye therefore believes very strongly that he has the mandate of Awka-South 2 in 2023.
The lawmaker who doubles as the Chairman House of Assembly Committee on Internally Generated Revenue, disclosed further that he has called the attention of the state government to drainages, potholes and other Infrastructural decay in Obizi constituency through the many motions he moved on the floor of the Hallowed Chambers of the legislature.
Okoye who is also a lover of football,  told our correspondent that he would be bringing in some coaches from Denmark that would source talented youths from his soccer tournament in Awka-South that would commence in the coming weeks for onward professional football in Europe.
According to the lawmaker, the forthcoming festive season would be a beehive of activities as he plans to carry out the second edition of his massive human development empowerment programme which he said will put smiles on the faces of people.
