2023: I Intend To Run Again As A Nigerian, Not An Ethnic Candidate – Moghalu

Former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and Presidential candidate in the 2019 General Elections, Prof. Kingsley Moghalu, said he will contest the 2023 Presidential election as a Nigerian and not as an ethnic candidate.
Making the disclosure via his social media handle over the weekend, Prof. Moghalu said, “When I ran for President in 2019, I ran as a Nigerian candidate for the Nigerian Presidency, not as an “Igbo” candidate”.
“In 2023, I intend to run again as a Nigerian, not an ethnic candidate. No apologies. I am a proud Nigerian and a proud Igbo, but my vision transcends ethnicity.”

“I cannot say I am running with answers to the problem of our fractured nationhood and be running on the basis of THE PROBLEM. After playing key roles in fixing broken nations around the world as a #UN diplomat, after helping stabilize and grow Nigeria’s economy as Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria from 2009-2014, I can’t do otherwise.”

“Our country needs healing. Two wrongs won’t make right. We need visionary, transformative leadership. That, not parochial, ethnic politics, is what I offer our country if Nigerians give me the opportunity.”
