The Secretary of the Igbo Stakeholders Forum, Elder Daniels Soni Ezeanochie, has declared that widespread calls for Prince Nixon Okwara to contest the Oshodi-Isolo Federal Constituency 2 seat in the 2027 forthcoming general election are justified and timely.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Elder Ezeanochie described Prince Okwara as “a round peg in a round hole” for the constituency, insisting that his track record and grassroots connection make him the ideal candidate for the National Assembly.
He explained that one of the major reasons Oshodi-Isolo Federal Constituency 2 has lagged behind other Federal constituencies in Lagos State in terms of infrastructure and development is poor representation at the National Assembly over the years.
However, he stated that the situation would change significantly with Prince Okwara, who has lived in the area most of his life, understands its challenges, and has a proven history of community development if given the mandate.
Explaining why many residents are clamouring for Okwara to join the race, Ezeanochie said the aspirant has, in his private capacity, played a tremendous role in transforming parts of the constituency long before seeking elective office.
He recalled that as former chairman of Green Field Estate, one of the largest estates in the constituency, Okwara took over when the entire land was swampy and inaccessible. Through motivation and personal drive, he led efforts that turned the estate into a model community.
“Today, Greenfield is like Dubai,” Ezeanochie said, quoting former Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola, who reportedly marveled at the transformation during the estate’s commissioning and praised Okwara for achieving what even the Lagos State Property Development Corporation had thought impossible.
Because of that feat, Okwara was later made chairman of the Ago-Okota Landlords Association to replicate the development template.
Today, Ago-Okota is listed among the fastest-developing areas in Lagos State, a result Ezeanochie credited to Okwara’s leadership philosophy that “impossibility does not exist”.
On his political standing, Ezeanochie noted that Prince Okwara is a pillar of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos State, particularly in Oshodi-Isolo within the Lagos West Senatorial District. He served on the APC Presidential Campaign Council during the last general election and delivered his ward. He is also regarded as one of the financiers of the party in the constituency.
Asked what stands Okwara out, Ezeanochie pointed to “optimism, combined with empathy”. He described him as a problem-solver who feels the pain of others and responds quickly, adding that Nigeria needs leaders who put people first rather than themselves.
On national politics, Ezeanochie said Prince Okwara is an “avowed Tinubu man” who openly defends President Bola Ahmed Tinubu everywhere, including in the Southeast. He quoted Okwara as saying the President has not given excuses since assuming office but has taken responsibility and pleaded for time to fix the economy, showing focus and direction.
Ezeanochie appealed to the Lagos State APC to give Prince Nixon Okwara the ticket for Oshodi-Isolo Federal Constituency 2, arguing that he has the capacity, massive support base, and track record to win the election for the party and deliver greater dividends of democracy to the people.
