Posted on June 18, 2026

Leaders and stakeholders of Ogere International Market have reaffirmed their unwavering support for the Ogun State All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Candidate, Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi, while pledging to intensify grassroots mobilization efforts to ensure victory for the party in future elections.
The declaration was made during a meeting between Senator Yayi and a delegation of market leaders led by the General Chairman of Ogere International Market, Alhaji Bura Buni. The delegation comprised market executives, community leaders, traders, and representatives of the Hausa community in Ogere and neighbouring communities.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Alhaji Bura Buni expressed appreciation to God for the opportunity to meet Senator Yayi, noting that traders in Ogere had closely followed his political trajectory and developmental interventions across Ogun State. He stated that the market community had been mobilising support for the APC governorship candidate long before the commencement of formal political activities.
According to him, the market leadership embarked on an extensive voter registration campaign across the market and surrounding communities, resulting in the registration of over 6,000 eligible voters. He added that the exercise remains ongoing as traders continue to encourage residents and members of their households to obtain Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
The market chairman explained that the mobilisation efforts were voluntary and driven by the conviction that Senator YAYI possesses the leadership qualities required to move Ogun State forward. He also commended the administration of Dapo Abiodun for maintaining peace and creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.
Alhaji Buni further disclosed that attempts by opposition elements to secure the support of the market through gifts and financial inducements were rejected by the market leadership. He assured Senator YAYI that traders in Ogere International Market, as well as members of the Hausa community in Ogere and Iperu, would stand firmly behind the APC and work towards the success of all its candidates, including Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Abiodun.
Also speaking, Mallam Muhideen Adewole reaffirmed his loyalty and support for Senator YAYI, recounting personal sacrifices he had made in support of the APC governorship project. In a gesture that drew applause from members of the delegation, Senator YAYI pledged to sponsor him for the holy pilgrimage to Makkah.
The Iyaloja of Ogere, Alhaja Falilat, also reaffirmed the market’s commitment to Senator YAYI’s governorship ambition. She noted that market leaders had consistently encouraged traders and residents to support the APC candidate, adding that efforts by political opponents to discourage such support had yielded no results.
She described Ogere International Market as one of the major commercial hubs in the state and appealed for the establishment of an additional polling unit around the tollgate area to accommodate the growing voting population within the market environment.
Responding, Senator Yayi expressed appreciation to the delegation for their loyalty, commitment, and sustained support for the APC. He commended the market leadership for their dedication to voter mobilisation and grassroots political participation, describing their efforts as a demonstration of genuine commitment to democratic engagement.
The APC governorship candidate disclosed that he had received several positive reports about the market and its leadership and promised to personally visit Ogere International Market to interact directly with traders and assess their needs.
Senator YAYI assured the delegation that his administration would build upon the achievements of Governor Dapo Abiodun and continue to implement programmes that improve the welfare of traders, artisans, and residents across Ogun State. He further promised that the market community would remain an integral part of future engagements and governance activities.
As a demonstration of appreciation for the market’s support and mobilisation efforts, Senator YAYI announced a donation of 100 bags of rice and ₦10 million to the market community. He also assured the traders that issues raised during the engagement, including the request for additional voting facilities, would receive due attention.
The meeting ended with members of the delegation reaffirming their commitment to Senator YAYI’s governorship aspiration and pledging continued support for the APC as grassroots mobilisation efforts intensify across Ogun State ahead of the 2027 elections.
