3 Domestic Workers Cart Away N62m Kept By Top Nigerian At Home

The Police have arrested three domestic workers, Omale Joy, 19; Ogbe Mururat, 22 and Agres Kazashim, for allegedly stealing $74,000 Dollars, equivalent of about N62m, kept at Alhaji Ahmed Wali’s home in Asokoro area of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Alhaji Wali’s home, where the suspects were employed as domestic workers to clean his compound including his bedroom.
The suspects have been charged before the Lugbe Grade I Area Court Abuja, for the alleged criminal conspiracy, breach of trust and theft.
The Prosecution Counsel, Mr. Stanley Nwaforaku, told the Court that the complainant, Mr. Taofees Salman, of Plot 114 Yakubu Gawon Crescent, Asokoro, Abuja, reported the matter at the Asokoro Police Station on 18th August, 2023, after it was discovered that the money was missing.
The prosecutor, Nwaforaku, stated  further that the defendants and one Franca Ibrahim, now at large, were employed as cleaner and nanny by the complainant’s father in-law, Ahmed Wali.
He explained that the defendants were employed in Wali’s house in Asokoro, Abuja and they allegedly conspired and stole $74,400 dollars, which were kept in Wali’s bedroom.
The prosecutor stated that during Police investigation $900 dollars and N12,000 were recovered from Joy and in the process of further investigation N700,000 part of the stolen money was seen in her UBA account and the defendants could not give a satisfactory account of themselves.
He stated that the alleged offence contravened the provisions of Sections 97,312 and 289 of the Penal Code, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
However, the defendants pleaded not guilty.
The Presiding Judge, Mr. Aliyu Kagarko, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N 1 million each and a surety in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood.
The Judge, Kagarko, also directed that the surety must reside within the Court’s jurisdiction and must own a property in Asokoro, which must be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned till 29th August, 2023, for hearing while the defendants were remanded in custody pending when they will perfect their bail conditions .
