Ikeja Local Government on Monday, September 7, held its Quarterly Workers’ Interactive Forum in conjunction with NULGE, with a call on staff to intensify efforts towards improved revenue generation and effective service delivery.

Speaking at the forum, Executive Chairman, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), commended workers for their commitment and disclosed that the Council had surpassed its previous revenue target by 20 per cent.

While describing the feat as commendable, Comrade Dauda urged staff, particularly revenue-generating officers, to do more, stressing that increased revenue was essential to funding infrastructure, improving public facilities and meeting the growing needs of residents.

The Chairman also encouraged staff to participate actively in the democratic process by registering to vote, obtaining their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and exercising their civic responsibilities.

Council Manager, Mrs. Odubeko Juliannah Taiwo, urged staff to update their records, adhere to service rules and maintain professionalism, while the Director of Administration and Human Resources, Mr. Jubril Olusegun, reinforced the call for civic participation.

Workers also raised concerns about office furniture and the need for a staff bus. The Chairman assured them that the requests would be considered, while urging workers to reciprocate the administration’s commitment to staff welfare with greater dedication to their duties.
